“Best selling”? Well, it has sold more copies than any of my other books, so it’s my best seller. That’s the clickybaity title dealt with. Why now? Well, I’ve never actually posted about this book since it was (self) published. Christmas is looming and this might fill a hole in someone’s stocking if you are looking for ideas in the £7.30 to £7.40 price bracket and like tall (but true) stories about car factory cock-ups. Here are a few excerpts from a little book described as “hilarious” by Richard ‘Sniff Petrol’ Porter and “alright” by some cold hearted buyer on Amazon.

From Nissan Sunderland; “The worker, mind eventually scrambled by lights and inane plinky-plonk electronic torture, took revenge. The robot followed a pre-defined route, the shortest route possible, by detecting and following a metal strip fitted to the floor. The worker brought in a roll of metal tape and laid a new path for the robot to follow. It was last seen heading Southbound for the A19.”

From Rover Longbridge; “Kaizen – this means, literally, improvement. In a production environment that might mean elimination of waste, better efficiencies, or getting the canteen to serve their soup with fewer lumps in it”

From Ford Dagenham; Mr Tefal, now raging “snot fackin’ break yet!”, grabbed £2000’s worth of test instrument and blindly threw it, still ranting, missing a chap who was passing with a tea trolley but hitting his urn with a clang.
