lotus on track goodwood trackday (17)

‘Raindrops on roses and whiskers on kittens, bright copper kettles and warm woollen mittens, brown paper packages tied up with string, these are a few of my favorite things’, sang Julie Andrews. She’d never had the joy of a trackday at Goodwood, clearly. Thanks to MotorPunk Matty Lamb we have these pictures of ‘Lotus on Track’ enjoying laps of one of our favourite circuits in a few of our favourite things.

The Lotus models in action included a rare 2-eleven (252BHP in 670Kg = 0-60 in 3.8s), a Lotus 7 lookalike Caterham in the best colour scheme of green and yellow and S1 and S2 Elises aplenty. There was a very quick (and therefore slightly blurry) black Exige. We love the Golf Leaf liveried S1 in particular. Porsche 911s, a 968, some Boxsters and a ubiquitous MX-5 also joined in. Top marks for the chap in the MGB, and why do VX220s never wear their griffins? These are all favourites of ours, debadged or not.

There are always automotive treasures to be found in the grounds of Goodwood. Is it so wrong that our eye was drawn to the spotless silver Cortina before the Rolls-Royce Shadow II ? Next time we’ll be there in person, on track, albeit probably holding everyone up. ‘When the dog bites, when the bee stings, when I’m feeling sad, I simply remember my favorite things* and then I don’t feel so bad’.
